Who was it said that? About the single step? Anyway, I have changed my LJ to reflect my next-year trip to Japan! So, whooo. Let's see... I've stopped studying Japanese so much, so I'll have to keep that up again. Oh, and it's not so much a trip as a year of life. I'll also have to earn some money!
Please check out my adventures over the next two years. I hope I have fun!

Writer's Block: Happy happy joy joy

What cheers you up the most when life gets you down?

I love listening to the song "Kimi no uchi ni tsuku made zutto hashitte yuku ~indies ver.~". Whenever I listen to it, my face slowly turns into a big smile against my will. It's a weird sight for those looking at me!

Writer's Block: Over-the-Top Metaphors

Detective stories are stereotypically full of over-the-top metaphors: "The villain's hand stroked the cat the way his sins stroked his black soul. His voice, rough as the city's nighttime streets and twice as terrifying, barked orders to his lackeys. They scattered like parents who just realized they forgot to pick up a child from school." Write a short scene using some of your own extreme metaphors and similes.

I'd have to say that's not always true! (Cough! Agatha Christie! Cough!!) But since this sounds like good fun, I'll give it a crack.
"The Inspector recoiled as the sight of Estrelle's mutilated body lay before his eyes. He retched, not because it affected him, but as a force of habit after 20 years of violent murder scenes pervading his nightmares. Her blue eyes would never give a seductive wink again, her once-steaming voluptuous bosoms now rendered hideous by the smashed ribs that jutted through them like pins in a pincushion..."

Heh! I like the "once-steaming voluptuous bosoms" part. ^_^

Writer's Block: AKA

What's the story behind your username?

Have you ever Googled something without thinking? I do it sometimes when my younger brother is peering over my shoulder at what I'm looking at. Boom- suddenly on a new tab I'll type the first phrase that comes to mind. In that case, it was "Happy duck". The most adorable picture came up of a duck whose beak was parted in a joyous smile. I couldn't think of a good username and I typed without properly thinking. "Happy_duck" was taken, so I just added an S. Silly story, right?

Writer's Block: In a Jam

If you were in trouble or ran afoul of the law, which fictional detective or investigator—from tv, movies, or books—would you want to help you?

Definitely Miss Marple. She's such a sweet old lady who would not be put off by the fact I look a little scruffy, unlike Poirot. I even read every book and short story featuring her! It's one of my proudest achievements. That, and passing my first real exams.

Writer's Block: Pleasure, little treasure

Are there any sentimental objects that you've kept for many years? Are there any that you bring with you wherever you go?

I'm not ashamed to say I've kept my childhood teddy bear!! Whoo, go me, etc. But I wouldn't take it wherever I go. I mean, imagine that!
